 How do you know you're an adult?

Moving out. Are you ready?

I am going to make a list and if everything is checked off then you are ready to be an adult. Adulting can be hard but if you work hard it can be great to be an adult. 

1. Can you save money? Adulting is all about saving and making sure that there is enough money for bills. (Rent, groceries, utilities, water, etc) and yes groceries is a bill because you can't live without it and going out to eat is more expensive.

2. Can you cook? As an adult you have to learn how to cook or how will you survive? 

3. Do you have a good paying job that you will be able to pay rent? Like I said earlier you have to work hard in order to be an adult because you have bills to pay. Also I am sure you would want to buy things like tv, furniture, wifi, clothes, etc. 

4. Do you know how to do your own laundry? If that is a no then I don't think you are ready. Your parents can't do your laundry forever. It is time to grow up because doing your own laundry is responsible and having good hygiene. 

5. Are you responsible? Being an adult you have to be responsible of your own actions. If you are late to work that is your fault and no one else's you have to leave early. 

6. Can you pay your bills on time? If you move out and your rent isn't paid on time no more apartment, phone, or wifi. Paying your bills on time is adulthood. 


If you got all those down you are ready!

     I believe you can separate people's personal lives vs what they do for a living. Just like Ayishat Akanbi was saying famous people shouldn't be put above people that aren't because they may not be a good person. Jazzy Journal

 Jazzy Journal! I think that I am going to really enjoy reading this book. I like to learn about what happened in the past and how it changed throughout the years. If the roles were switched and the character were a boy I feel like they would get the same treatment because they story starts out with Jacqueline being young. This story is set where it is to explain the story and tell what happened throughout the story. Also it is set where it is to show if anything has changed at the end of the book. I would film this story in color to show how everything looked because if it is in black and white it isn't showing everything that happened and I feel like more would understand and be intrigued if it were filmed in color. Jacqueline is different from me because I was born where racism wasn't around but also we are kind of the same because racism still exists. Also she was born in the south and I wasn't. Are young adult books too dark?

In the reading "Darkness to Visible" Meghan Gurdon's view is that she wants a young adult book that doesn't contain anything too dark and in the reading "why the best books are written in blood" Sherman writes books for teenagers to help them stand up for themselves and fight their battles.  When Sherman was younger he had to deal with mental illness and abuse and he remembers what that feels like. He wants his readers to feel informed and create ideas for young adults to cope with it. He would get handwritten letters from young adults that loved his book. Over the years dark novels became more normal. Meghan feels that when young adults read dark books and are feeling sad they may get the wrong idea and harm themselves.   I agree with Sherman Alexie because he relates to young adults' lives.
